Senior project manager, Shanghai

What you will be doing

Working with MING as our new Senior Project Manager, you’ll manage client relationships & projects across innovation and kick-ass digital products. You’ll be the key link between our clients and our business design, UX design and technology teams, working to ensure that everything runs smoothly while giving your creative and commercial input from day one.

You’ll take responsibility for the management of projects and client relationships: creating estimates and proposals, monitoring the tasks and budgets, handling stakeholder communication and representing MING in a credible and accountable manner externally and internally.  You’ll also be involved in many internal projects, ranging from business development to marketing and internal process improvements.

You’ll report straight to the General Manager of our China business, and you’ll be interacting with all parts of the business in line of your responsibilities.  

We expect at least five years of professional experience in account or project management and strong knowledge of digital product creation. We appreciate your ability to establish a collaborative and trusting relationship with our clients and partners, as well as your talent to manage projects of various degrees of complexity.

Your specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Business Development

You’ll work together with our management to discover new opportunities within existing accounts, scope them and lead the creation of convincing proposals. You’ll further support the business on new business opportunities with leading initial introductory conversations, project scoping and proposal creation:

  1. Utilize your professional network to generate new business opportunities.
  2. Convincingly introduce MING Labs and our portfolio of work
  3. Help our clients to formulate their requirements.
  4. Prepare project costs and time estimates.
  5. Create convincing proposals.
  • Project Planning

You’ll be responsible to work with the operations team on planning and staffing projects, to ensure smooth delivery and optimal outcomes for our clients. You will bring a strong understanding of the digital product creation process to the planning of activities, having the ability to scope phases of work, manage capacity and capabilities accordingly:

  1. Develop project charters and identify stakeholders.
  2. Prepare and facilitate kick-off meetings.
  3. Develop project management plans, collect detailed requirements and scope.
  4. Define and sequence project activities and estimate activity durations.
  5. Estimate and plan resources.
  6. Determine detailed budget per project activity & deliverables.
  7. Plan stakeholder management and develop communications management plan.
  8. Identify project risks and perform qualitative risk analysis.
  • Project Execution

You’re the central point of contact for our clients towards MING and handle their requests and inputs with the highest degree of professionalism. You are the interface towards the internal team, with which you will need to coordinate responses and actions accordingly. We appreciate your ability to handle multiple projects concurrently. Your focus would be on managing discover & prototyping phases - with technical project managers to lead on production phases

  1. Direct, manage project work and teams, ensuring quality assurance.
  2. Manage communications and engagement of all stakeholders.
  3. Ensure required monitoring & control, including:
    -Project work
    -Integrated change control

    -Schedule
    -Costs
    -Quality
    -Stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Project Closure

Collect feedback from all stakeholders to facilitate individual and organizational learning, ensure adequate documentation and maintain lines of communication with external stakeholders to discuss future business opportunities:

  1. Collect feedback from all stakeholders.
  2. Facilitate project retrospectives & documentation to drive individual and organizational learning.
  3. Manage communications with external stakeholders to discuss future business opportunities.

In addition to the client communication, you’ll run regular standups with the project team, ensure their progress is on-track and move all obstacles they might be facing out of their way.

What we are looking for

5+ years of experience in Account or Project Management (preferably in a professional services environment, such as agencies or consultancies) in the field of digital product creation.

Familiarity with design thinking and agile methodologies.

Strong interest and passion for digital businesses and products.

Ability to prioritize, delegate and execute tasks in a dynamic environment.

Excellent (business fluent) communication and negotiation skills in Chinese and English are a must.
